Brandywine Falls

One of the most iconic views in the park, Brandywine Falls is a powerful 65 foot waterfall surrounded by layered sandstone cliffs. It’s easy to access, family-friendly, and open year-round (yes, even frozen in winter).

Where to park:
Brandywine Falls Trailhead lot — fills fast on weekends. Get there early or go on a weekday.

Trail info:
0.5-mile boardwalk loop to main viewing platforms
Add mileage by connecting to the Stanford Trail for a longer loop (3.8 miles RT)Pro Tip:
Golden hour here = incredible. Arrive around sunset for soft light and way fewer crowds.

The Ledges Trail + Overlook

If you only do one hike in CVNP, make it this one. The Ledges Trail is a 2.3-mile loop that winds through mossy boulder gardens, dramatic rock walls, and shaded forests. It feels like another world and the Ledges Overlook is a jaw-dropper at sunset.

Where to park:
Ledges Trailhead (well-marked off Truxell Road)

Bonus:
Bring a picnic because there is a big shelter and HUGE grassy field near the trailhead.Photography tip:
Some of our most epic trail shots are from this loop. Golden light filters through the trees, and the overlook gives full sunset-on-the-valley

drama.

Blue Hen Falls

Quieter than Brandywine but just as charming, Blue Hen Falls is a peaceful 15-foot cascade surrounded by forest. It’s a favorite for photographers and a great quick stop. This is also one of the more challenging hikes in the park so it is popular among trail runners and hikers looking to get their heart pumping!

Where to park:
Boston Mill Visitor Center or the Boston Trailhead (short walk across the street)

Trail info:
3.1 miles roundtrip, Moderate

Note: If you are looking to continue past Blue Hen to Buttermilk Falls, be prepared for potential creek crossings depending on how much it has rained!

Good to know:
This one gets muddy after rain. Bring shoes you don’t mind getting dirty.

Plateau Trail

Looking to escape the crowds? The Plateau Trail offers forest solitude, rolling hills, and beautiful seasonal color. If you’re craving time in the trees, this is your trail.

Where to park:
Oak Hill Trailhead

Trail Info:
4.4 Mile Loop. Easy/Moderate

Wildlife tip:
We’ve spotted deer, hawks, and more along this loop. Bring your camera and zoom lens!

Kendall Lake

More of a “hang out and chill” spot, Kendall Lake is the perfect place for a slow morning or relaxing afternoon. There’s a flat loop around the water, benches, and often birds gliding over the surface.

Where to park:
Kendall Lake Shelter Lot

Things to do:

Bring snacks, relax, and enjoy the view

Short trail around the lake (easy, 1 mile or less)

Launch a kayak or paddleboard if you’ve got one

Bonus Activities: Scenic Railroad, Biking, and Floating

Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad:
Ride the historic train through the heart of the park. Perfect for families, rest days, or pairing with a hike. Some routes allow you to bike one way and ride the train back.
